Website!

Scarlett's Photoshop

I completed this website in 2 blocks and I think I did a great job which I didn't expect. Now I wish I had photoshop and Dream weaver. Seeing this class end makes me sad for what I have to leave behind. I'm very surprised about how easy it was to make a website. I figured it would take me forever to get it. I think I was very creative with the patterns I put together and the colors I used. I can toot my own horn here and say it's the best, but I won't do that. I'm sad to be done. This class went by way too fast.

Photoshop Swapping Skin "Zachbraff"

Zachbraff is a zebra giraffe.

I learned that I should not use google for my pictures. This project requires a lot of precision and grainy pictures are the devil's work. This turned out much better than I expected. I was irritated frequently so I had to use patience and breathing exercises at times. After figuring out how to better use the liquify tool I had a better time. Students should do this project around the middle part of the class because it's not too difficult and has all the basics in the tutorial. I'm proud that I was able to make zebra skin stretch all the way up a giraffe's neck without looking too fake. When I look at it now it almost looks normal to me that a giraffe should have zebra skin. I'd give this a 10!

Vector Art and Greeting Card

This is the longest project I chose during Photoshop class. I used 2 units as one. I vectored the microphone and the man's face and I free hand drew the squares and suits to add more color. I'm proud of the microphone and face because I took a really long time and worked very hard. In my eyes they will never be prefect but I can say I'm happy with the way they are now. My least favorite thing about this was the tutorials. Both were done by the woman and very hard to understand. I recommend this project last for any student. It's way harder than it looks. I really let my creativity go in this project but i also stuck to the original cover art concepts and colors. This is inspired by the Room On Fire album by The Strokes. If I could do this differently I may not have chosen this time consuming project. But, in the end I'm glad I did.

Reaching Out of Bounds/Masking Fur

Reaching out of Bounds was a really fun unit for me. As I continue to learn more about photoshop it's more and more fun to make my own versions of the projects. Learning photoshop is like being let in on some big secret about art that seemed OH so difficult and impossible. I let my creativity show a little more on this one which required me to use the Masking Fur unit in addition to the Reaching out of Bounds unit. I love kittens so I  had to learn about masking fur to make the cat look like it was really out of the TV. I didn't expect that to be so easy either, making fur and being a perfectionist do not mix well. I could have puffed up that cat for hours. I'm proud of my work with the coloring of the finished picture. It took me a while to understand how to make an overlay look good, but I think I finally got it.

PopArt!

Making the Pop Art was a fun experience even though I know Andy Warhol didn't use photoshop to make his famous works. I didn't expect some of the difficulties I faced making my own. I found my self watching the tutorial at least 5 time just to get it right. I'm proud of my creation. I even printed it out and gave it to my friend for Christmas since it was a picture of us. I would say that in order to make it a little easier for the next person, use a giant photo. Size makes a big difference in the amount of detail you can do, and the resulting image, especially with the Pop Art look. This project took me longer than I expected, all the colors and layers can be confusing but very fun and rewarding when you seen the result.

Unit 1 Applying Tattoos

For my first project picking tattoo picture in particular was a good way to feel out the program. I love tattoos which made it all the more interesting. Being a perfectionist I feel I could always do better, but in order to finish this class in a good and timely fashion I decided to be satisfied with my work. I'm proud of my ability to take direction even though I had to watch the tutorial a few times before I got it down. I think the tattoos look realistic and very pretty. If I could re-dub the voice on the tutorial I think it would be a LOT better, his voice is so annoying and pretentious. I'm excited to make my own!

Here I took Zack's "MOM" tattoo and put it on myself. I also removed my roses tattoo.

Here I took my tattoo and put it on Zack!
